Shah Naw a Burmese refugee makes handcrafted fair trade soy blend artisan candles at Propserity Candle
"For myself I hope that I have a job that I can support my family. For my kids, I hope they grow to be a good person."

Shah grew up in a Thai refugee camp with her four brothers and parents. Before she was born, her family was forced to flee their ancestral home in Burma to escape escalating violence from the Myanmar military.

Her family lived in the camp with its limited freedoms for over 10 years. Shah made shirts to help buy food, but even with an education there were few opportunities to earn a living or plan for a future. Then in 2008 Shah and her family were offered the opportunity to relocate to the United States through a UNHCR program.

Today Shah shares a home in Massachusetts with her husband and two daughters. She joined Prosperity Candle in August 2019 to provide for her family. Her dream is to see her children grow up to be kind people.
