Celebrating World Refugee Day

This Wednesday, June 20th, is World Refugee Day— a cause near and dear to our hearts. World Refugee Day was established by the UN to honor the courage, strength and determination of women, men and children who are forced to flee their homes under threat of persecution, conflict and violence. There are 43.7 million refugees world-wide, 80% of whom are women and children.

Our work with refugees from Burma and Bhutan has opened our eyes to the hardships facing refugees and the importance and impact of work opportunities that help them rebuild their lives.

By purchasing a candle, you too can celebrate World Refugee Day, and show your support for women who have encountered and overcome extreme hardship. You can also read the stories of the refugees we work with, like Mee Mee, Moo Kho, and Naw.
