Each of these serenity candles is handpoured to order, burns for 80+ hours, and arrives beautifully gift boxed with a story card about the woman artisan who made it. This stunning metalwork and detailed artisan technique is created by a group of 8 artisans based in Moradabad, a state of Uttar Pradesh in India. Their small workshop is supported by Tara Projects.

As a Fair Trade organization, Tara Projects supports communities with health care programs, non formal education, gender equality, skills development, micro credit and women's safety.

By law in India, women and men should be paid equally but in many cases this is not the reality. The women often have no choice but to accept low wages. Tara Projects uses fair trade to fight for the rights of women and for gender equality.
Many of their artisans work at the grassroots level and are internal migrants, migrating from their villages to the cities in search of livelihood.
Every Serenity Candle is hand poured in our studio in Massachusetts by a woman who is supporting herself and her family after living many years as a refugee.
