Beda

Bhutan

Beda shares
her past with vivid recollection. Leaving Bhutan as a young child of 6 years old on a bullock cart with
her family, they arrived in Northern
India where they were then put on a bus that took 2 ½ days to reach their
destination in Nepal – a refugee camp built of makeshift bamboo huts which she
was to call home.  “I like to be busy”
she admits, chuckling “ always busy!”. Beda’s
ambitions are strong – she was a teacher in the camps and today is taking English
classes and looks forward to studying to be a nurse. She has lived a difficult
life she admits and says quietly “I am cheerful today because I have seen
everything as a child. Nothing can ever be as bad”.
