Thank you to Catchafire for a wonderful blog post chronicling our journey as a young social enterprise. This recent blog post beautifully highlights some of the key moments in the Prosperity Candle history.
We are thankful to Catchafire for their support in providing us with talented pro bono professionals. Thanks to them we have had talent help us with PR, branding, newsletter crafting, online marketing, motion graphics video creation, social media and more.
We are delighted to be featured in a recent issue of The Republican in Springfield, MA. We love this piece, which shares a recap of 2011, plans for 2012, profiles of the women we work with, great photos and an announcement of our Prosperity Candle Subscription! Giving a gift that continues to give each month (a new candle every month) is a wonderful way to let someone know how special they are to you.
Thank you to the incredible Boston-based 89.7 WGBH NPR program, Innovation Hub, for including Prosperity Candle in its recent show. Ted Barber, Co-Founder of Prosperity Candle, was on a panel about fighting poverty around the world.
We love being featured by local media and were honored to be included on this program alongside MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning, Seven Fund and Containers2Clinics in the discussion.
We are proud to be collaborating with Lindsay Eisensmith, a Smith College alum who runs Vitality Spa in Old Lyme, Connecticut. She discovered us when she was back in Northampton, MA for a Smith College reunion and was inspired to give back to the community that educated her by introducing Vitality Spa travel tin candles into her collection.
Each one is made by a woman refugee rebuilding her life in the Pioneer Valley. The candles embody the values of Vitality Spa to “Live Long, Live Well” and also help foster a powerful woman to woman connection. Learn more about Vitality Spa here.
We had a blast at the 4th Annual FEED-Raiser & Market this week with FEED Projects, Urban Zen and Gilt City NYC. Thank you to Lauren Bush Lauren and the entire FEED team for making it such a success.
Our FEED Joy candle was a stand out at the event
It was a great night of shopping and socializing with others who share our passion for doing good in the world with great products!
Founding Partner Siiri Morley stands proudly with the Prosperity Collection
A highlight of the night was selling an Amnesty Vessel of Light to Donna Karan’s daughter, Gabby Karan.
The FEED 3 Candle was a huge hit!
We were proud to have our collaborative FEED 3 Candle grace the FEED Projects table. The candles have been a huge seller this season.
Last night Prosperity Candle was featured by WGGB (ABC/FOX) in Springfield. Their team visited our Northampton, MA office and production space to meet with Founder Ted Barber, several of the Burmese refugee women we work with and two of our volunteers. We are beyond thrilled with this video and are excited to share it with you.
This is a perfect way to get a behind the scenes look at the team and work that brings you gifts that give back!
In their words:
“Tis the season and chances are many of us will be making our holiday pilgrimage to Yankee Candle and Kringle Candle for holiday gifts.
Well there’s a new candle maker in Western Massachusetts that not only provides a quality product, but also effects the quality of people’s lives.”
Thank you to our friends at Milkshake (a great site with daily emails on good for the world finds from around the world) for their beautiful, “Let it Glow, Let it Glow” feature today on Prosperity Candle! As the days get darker and colder, lighting a candle is the best way to warm one’s spirits. Better even when a social cause is involved, we think!
Have you checked about Women for Women International’s Get Involved homepage? If not, you really should. It’s beautifully designed and so engaging – it makes us even more excited about the phenomenal work they do to empower women survivors of war.
There are so many ways that Women for Women International’s supporters can get involved (Run for Congo; host an event, sponsor a woman in Congo, Rwanda, Iraq, etc.). Knowing this, and how many stories they have to tell, we are truly honored to have our own splash banner for their Get Involved page!
As they note, our Global Sisters Candle Set (a set of two stunning pillar candles) supports women who have graduated from their program in Iraq and donates to their work. And now we’ve introduced our Women for Women travel tin candle, which also donates to their work. Meaningful gifts that support a charitable cause.
We are proud to be participating in the 4th annual FEED-raiser & market, hosted by FEED Projects, Urban Zen and Gilt City NYC, this Wednesday, December 14th. The event is both a holiday cocktail party and a “good for the world” shopping event — and everything benefits the fantastic work of the FEED Foundation.
The host committee is impressive – David & Lauren Bush Lauren, Donna Karan, Hugh Jackman, Bobbi Brown, Rachel Roy, amongst many others. And the venue is stunning – Donna Karan’s Urban Zen space is just divine.
We’ll be there (with bells on!) selling our finest Prosperity Candle gifts. Come support a great cause, mingle with passionate philanthropists and activists, and stock up on gifts that give back.
